Overloaded (mini-short)

Danny reached out a hand gingerly, Overload shirked back; Danny's eyes widen whether with excitement or fear he didn't know all he knew was she reacted to him; she had defeated the Avengers and their team single handily; but she stopped short attacking him.

He reached out to her again and she pulled back the layer of static fazed his skin. causing a thin line of blood. He realized...they might not need to kill her....there was another way...or at least he hoped his theory was right.

Danny pulled his hand up, to his mask; he took a quick survey of the area everyone who wasn't a hero was evacuated already and Overload had already fused with any nearby cameras.
He quickly undid his mask; he looked into her eyes, and he swore he saw Ally inside.

He reached out once more and this time she did not move as he touched her face. gently stroking it. she didn't move but her gaze stayed fixed upon him. "Its okay ....I am here...." he whispered moving closer.

He grasped her face with both hands and stroked her cheeks lovingly. Inching his body closer he kept whispering "Its alright" "I love you" and "Ally I am here"; finally he embraced her holding her body close to his; he could feel her heartbeat....machines don't have heartbeats....

Suddenly a loud pop was heard from her back he pulled away just to see an explosion of blood as all the tech she had adsorbed trickled out of her body covered in her blood. she grasped onto him with what little strength she had left. Repeatedly whispering "I am sorry" in a raspy voice. she fell over still repeating the words. he sat down with his legs crossed.

He cradled her in his arms shushing her and holding her close with one arm while using his hand to pet her hair. He bent over and kissed his forehead.

If an Onlooker were there they would have been confused, by the scene badly beaten heroes scattered everyone and a couple sitting in the middle holding onto each other for dear life...
