she is quiet and somewhat cold ( at least at the beginning ) Her father died when she was very young and her mother works two jobs to put food on the table; because of this Aiko strongly believes in the power of money. though after meeting Hikaru her heart somewhat melts; and there is a big contrast o her from her beginning self to who she ends up being.

SO her father died when she was only 5 years old; her mother was pregnant with Lace ( the last child)
she has two younger brothers Lace being 10 and Sax being 14;
she is obsessed with money ( mainly because she wants to help out her mother) unfortunately she has a tough time finding a job until Haruhi introduces her to the host club;
the group starts to spend time together and Hikaru starts to like her; so she finds a ( somewhat source of money) ( example: 500 yen for a kiss ) basically she becomes a Hikaru prostitute.
or at least that is how it starts out over time she begins to change and by the end she actually falls for Hikaru
she is Haichi and Haruhi's childhood friend ( she and Haruhi have known each other since they were 8 )
high school was the first time when the three were separated

-So Aiko goes to an all girls school ( it was made for upper middle class to rich girls ) ( Aiko got in on scholarship)
because of this Aiko gets bullied a lot by her classmates
their is even a point when Hikaru sees her getting picked on and (kind of) bullies the girls in return ( he says things like " at least Aiko is pretty i can not stand your ugly face) and throws money on them

So when she is at home she wears her dad's old clothes ( with the expectation of the skirts her mom gives her to wear)
when the host club finds out they freak out and make bad puns about how at least Haruhi wears girls clothes outside school.
